Patient Safety

At VPR Pharmacy, patient safety is our highest priority. Every prescription is checked by a registered pharmacist to ensure that medicines are supplied safely, appropriately and in accordance with legal and professional requirements.

Safe Use of Medicines

Medicines prescribed for you may not be suitable for anyone else. Always take your medicine exactly as directed by your prescriber

Do not share your medicines with anyone else.

If Your Symptoms Worsen

If your symptoms worsen, do not improve, or you experience any unexpected effects while taking your medicine, contact your prescriber promptly for medical advice.

If you have any questions about your medicines, our pharmacy team will be happy to assist you during our opening hours.

In an Emergency

If you believe you or someone else is experiencing a medical emergency, call 999 immediately or attend your nearest Accident & Emergency (A&E) department.

For urgent medical advice when it is not an emergency, contact NHS 111 or your healthcare provider.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, prescribed medicines can cause side effects.

If you experience a side effect, contact your prescriber or our pharmacy for advice. You can also report suspected side effects directly through the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Safe Storage

Always store medicines in accordance with the instructions provided on the packaging or label.

  • Keep medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Store medicines at the recommended temperature.
  • Protect medicines from excessive heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Do not use medicines after their expiry date.

Safe Disposal

Do not dispose of unwanted or expired medicines in household waste or by flushing them down the toilet unless specifically instructed.

If you have medicines that are no longer required or have expired, please return them to a pharmacy for safe disposal.
